Good things to know
Why We Use AI-Generated Images
You may notice that many of the pictures on this site are AI-generated. Why? As a small, growing company, we sometimes face the high costs of professional photography or the complexity of copyright rules.
Interestingly, I’m actually a photographer myself! However, since Artemis Archery is currently a passion project run on a volunteer basis, using AI-generated images allows us to keep creating content for you without breaking the bank.
Our Approach to Image Accuracy
While AI-generated images might not always be historically accurate, they are designed to be creative interpretations that complement each article. Think of them as a piece of art—inspired by the story, not a perfect representation of facts.
Everything Made with Passion and Care
At Artemis Archery, every article, story, and piece of advice is crafted with love, care, and a true passion for archery. Whether you’re just starting out or have been an archer for years, we’re here to inspire, educate, and celebrate the art of archery with you.

Target Panic Is Not Born on the Shooting Line
Part I – The Letter We Prefer Not to Open A Statement That Chafes I will begin with a statement many will instinctively object to: Target panic is not born on the shooting line. It does not arise in the meeting between archer, arrow, and target. Not in the choice…
The Future of the Longbow
The moment we’re standing in There are rare moments in sport when a class begins to grow organically. Not because it has been forced, rebranded, or optimised — but because people are drawn to it. The longbow is in such a moment now. We see it in international competitions. We…
We Are More Than Our Bubbles
An essay on belonging, fear, and archery’s untapped potential Archery is not a sport in the singular. It is a global tapestry of people, traditions, cultures, and expressions. And yet, we often behave as though we were many small sports rather than one shared human pursuit. We divide ourselves by…
We Teach Archery Backwards
Why Anchor Point Should Not Come First There is a moment familiar to almost every archer. You pick up a bow, nock an arrow, and are told—often within minutes—where your anchor point should be. “Here. Corner of the mouth.” It is said kindly. Confidently. As if it were a universal…
Draw Weight and Macho Myths
– or why hitting the target is cooler than hauling a catapult Let’s get straight to the point, gentlemen: Drop the ego. We need to talk about draw weight. Especially for beginners. For some reason, there’s this widespread macho myth that a “real man” should start with 35–40 pounds.…
The Symmetry Within – Lessons from Asian Archery Traditions
Many archers focus on strength, technique and precision. But what if balance mattered more than muscle? In this article, we explore the philosophy and practical benefits of symmetry in traditional Chinese archery – and why western archers might want to borrow a few ideas. From whole-body movement to the often-misunderstood…
When the Bow Rode: A Journey Through the History of Mounted Archery
“There is a particular beauty in loosing an arrow while the world rushes past you. Like trying to write poetry at full gallop.” In the Saddle, String Drawn The first thing you lose is control. And yet—that’s exactly what you must keep. I’ve practised archery for many years. I’ve felt…
Oliver af Nettesheim and the Age of the Curved Line
A Midsummer Reflection from Artemis Archery It has become something of a tradition during Medieval Week in Visby to leave one’s modern self behind and don an alter ego for a while. Some become knights, others jesters, a few wander the streets as sleepy monks or cheerful merchants with more…
Trinity of Bows
The first 3D competition of the season has just wrapped up, and I must say—it felt rather splendid. Not because I won anything of note (I didn’t), but because for the first time in ages, I felt something beginning to return. A calmness. The faint outline of joy. My old…
